Dant leads Milford in 2OT Win over Mott, 4-3

Milford junior co-captain Michelle Dant scored her third goal of the night in the second sudden-death overtime to beat Waterford Mott, 4-3 in the KLAA North-West soccer playoff game. For Dant, it was her second consecutive 3-goal game.

The first half started slow, with the Corsairs jumping out to an early lead, scored by Meggy McConky, who scored all three goals for Mott. But, the Lady Mavs got it back at the thirteen minute mark, when junior Alyssa Adams fed a pass out to striker Ryan Winn, who drove through the defense and shot it to the far post past the Mott goalie for her fifth goal of the season.

Early in the second half, Milford's junior midfielder Adrien Allward sent a pass out wide to Dant, who bulled through the Corsair defense for the score and a 2-1 halftime lead.

Lots of attacks but no goals were scored until deep into the second half, when Waterford finally evened up the score with another McConky goal with 15 to go.

With 10 to go, Dant struck again, when she took another Allward pass through the Mott defense and to the goal.

With 5 to go, Mott's McConky countered back with her third goal of the night, then the game went to overtime.

Once again, Milford threatened with several attacks, but no goals were scored by either team in the first overtime.

In the second overtime, Dant received a pass sent up from sophomore midfielder Samantha Sturgeon, and broke through three defenders, but found a open seam to score the game winner. For Dant, it was her 11th goal of the year, and seven in the last three games.

Milford moves on to play the winner of the South-East playoff game, Plymouth-Salem, away on Wednesday night.
