Waterford Mott (4/24) - Milford plays to a tie against Mott
Milford played a much improved Waterford Mott to a 1-1 tie on Friday night in Milford. The Lady Mavs had several opportunities to change the outcome, but couldn’t quite finish.
The first half played rather even. The Lady Mavs fell behind when Waterford scored on one of their few attacks. Milford’s junior Ryan Winn had a good opportunity on the goalkeeper, but was stopped.
Milford scored in the second half, when sophomore midfielder Sam Sturgeon delivered a corner kick into the box, and junior Alyssa Adams picked up the loose ball and drilled it past the Waterford goalkeeper for her first goal of the year to tie the score.
Both teams had some good chances late in the game, and Mott had a point blank opportunity, but senior goalkeeper Angie Pasciolla did a great job stopping the shot at short range. The Mavs defense of Shannon Dunn, Hayley Benzek, Alyssa Adams, Max Howard, Katie Mulville and Kara Johnson played well to protect the tie.
Milford’s record is now 3-4-2, and Waterford’s record is 4-2-3.
The Mav JV tied their game against Mott 0-0. In the picture, Alex Petersen fires off a pass.
